The project aims to integrate and develop new remediation technologies for marine sediments characterized by high levels of organic and inorganic contamination.
The presence of enormous quantities of contaminated sediments in many marine-coastal environments of our country, in particular in the areas that historically have hosted large industrial plants, represents a highly complex element for a modern and sustainable development of very large territories in our country, as well as an element of current danger to the health of the populations living in those areas.
The experimentation of an integrated and mobile remediation platform for sediments contaminated by mixtures of organic and inorganic pollutants, will be based on SedimentWashing, Bioremediation, Supercritical Fluid Extraction and Electrochemical Geoxidation techniques.
