Hydrothermalism and marine mineral resources
Mitigation of effects related to the extraction of marine mineral resources

This research line of the Marine Hazard project aims to increase knowledge on the presence and distribution of hydrothermal deposits (especially in the Mediterranean area) and evaluate next-generation technologies for mitigating effects resulting from the possible extraction of precious metals in an underwater environment. The development of industrial exploration and extraction technologies represents a response aimed at the use of mineral resources
of strategic interest for the precious metals and raw materials industry. The Project has as its main objective that of providing indications for safeguarding and protection of environments and ecosystems potentially affected by mining activities.
